Convenience food is usually the devil when it comes to putting on weight and in general, whilst these foods may be the quickest to grab and eat, they usually feature a lot of fats and carbs which are unlikely to help you in your weight loss goals. Thankfully however, it doesn’t need to be this way and there are many convenient and healthy meals which you can knock up in no time at all, that will bridge the hunger gap and keep you going until it is time to eat again.
I thought I would put together my 5 favorite quick, healthy meals which you ought to try out.
Thai Green Lettuce Cups
I absolutely love these snacks, they are healthy, full of goodness and most importantly, easy to put together. Fry off some pork mince in low fat oil for around 8 minutes and then stir through some Thai curry paste. Take the pan off the heat and then mix in some red onion, fish sauce, lime juice and some nice mixed herbs. Put the pan on the heat for 2 minutes to flash fry the ingredients and then serve them in leaves of romaine lettuce. In less than 10 minutes you’ll have a tasty and super healthy snack.
Middle Eastern style snack which you can make in less than 15 minutes and fuel yourself up. In order rot make this dish, whisk some lemon juice with olive oil and season with slat and pepper. Roughly chop some lettuces, cucumber, parsley and tomatoes and mix together in a bowl. Fry off some chicken pieces or use some pre-cooked or leftover chicken. Mix the chicken pieces in with the salad, pour on your dressing and serve with some toasted pitta bread, beautiful, fresh, quick and healthy.
Beans on Toast
Don’t bother buying your beans in the store, this is a beans on toast recipe which will blow your mind. Start with some oil in a pan and soften some onion, red pepper and garlic, stir in some canned tomatoes and ism paprika, as well as a splash of vinegar. Add a can of butter beans to your mixture and heat them through as you toast your bread. Once the bread is ready, serve the smokey beans and enjoy this healthy and speedy snack.
Chicken and Avocado Wraps
I really love wraps, they’re so versatile and these are the perfect convenience snack. Mix some raw chicken pieces with lim, chill powder and garlic and then hit the pan. Heat the wraps, wholemeal is best, as the chicken cooks and slice up some avocado. Once the wraps are warm, spread the avocado over them and add your chicken into the wraps, sprinkle with coriander and then enjoy.
Health Chicken Salad
The ultimate chicken salad is this 8 minute dish which will fill you up and give you plenty of nutrients and vitamins. Start off with some soya beans, heat them through for 5 minutes as you flash fry some chicken, grill it if you want an even healthier meal! Once the beans and chicken are cooked, add Tabasco sauce, lemon juice and oil into a blender and give it a blitz. Take some Cos lettuce leaved and some fresh cucumber and serve the beans and chicken into the leaves before covering with the seasoning.
